Qubus Hotel Gorzów - living in a hotel

Living in a hotel for more than on year is a rare experiance, which I am really happy about. Very comfortable room, great view over a park beneath the hotel, excellent and varied breakfast, friendly hotel crew, free internet access - the best of comfortable accommodation a Four-Star hotel can offer.

Once in a month I had to clear the room for my three to four days hometrip, but I had the same room for several month respectively. The hotel is very near to the town centre, most weekend events like concerts or cinema are in short walking distances. The hotel has a very fine restaurant with a good choice of wines and a cosy bar. The beautiful Warta shore with its several restaurants and leisure zone is within a 15 minutes walk. On weekends, which I spent in Gorzów, the car was constantly parked beneath the hotel, I did all my ways by foot.

Jazz Club Pod Filarami Gorzów - Jacques Kuba Séguin 'Litania Projekt'

As part of the 'Jazz Celebrations Gorzów' on 25th of November 2016 the Jacques Kuba Séguin 'Litania Projekt' performed at the Jazz Club Pod Filarami.

Jacques Kuba Séguin is a Montreal trumpeter and composer. His quartet features normally Frédéric Alarie bass, Kevin Warren drums and Jonathan Cayer piano, but in Gorzów he played with different musicians.

All photos with Canon 5D III and EF zoom lens 2.8/70-200 L IS II USM. This lens is ideal for the Jazz Club, with 70 mm a total of the whole stage from the back of the audience room is possible, with 100 to 200 mm portraits of the musicians.

Gorzów - Tsar at the Club Magnetoffon

Tsar is a Alternative/Post-Rock/Electronic goup from Szczecin, consisting of Patryk Lipnicki, Paweł Szerszeń, Tomek Haptar and Maks Posio.

All photos with a Canon EOS 5D III and EF 1.2/50 lens. The light in the Club is so faint, that I used maximum ISO 25600, the resulting noise is clearly to see.

Some impressions of the Magnetoffon Club.

National Independance Day in Poland

The National Independence Day in Poland is celebrated on 11 November to commemorate the anniversary of the restoration of Poland's sovereignty as the Second Polish Republic in 1918, after 123 years of partition by the Russian Empire, the Kingdom of Prussia and the Habsburg Empire. It is a non-working day in Poland.

In Gorzów it started with a festival service at the St. Mary's Cathedral. Afterwards the celebration area changed to the little park Skwer Wolnosci direktly in front of my hotel. I worked till 12:00 and moved than to the hotel, where the celebrations were in full progress. Heavy military vehicles on the road and in the park, military music and parades, information stalls and tents.

The centre of the celebrations was the statue of Józef Klemens Piłsudski. He was a Polish statesman; he was Chief of State (1918–22), "First Marshal of Poland" (from 1920), and de facto leader (1926–35) of the Second Polish Republic, Minister of Military Affairs. From mid-World War I he had a major influence in Poland's politics, and was an important figure on the European political scene. He was the person most responsible for the creation of the Second Republic of Poland in 1918.

All photos taken with a Hasselblad 503FCC, the last flagship of the V-Series cameras. Lens is a Carl Zeiss Distagon FLE 4.0/40 and I used the digital back CFV50c.

Klubie Magnet0ff0n in Gorzów - Enchanted Hunters

'Enchanted Hunters' on Saturday 5th of November at the Magnet0ff0n Club, esoteric music by the team: Małgorzata Penkalla, Magdalena Gajdzica, Patryk Zieliniewicz and Michał Biela (Kristen).

For the photos I used my Canon 5D III with EF 2.8/70-200 zoom lens. Light was so faint on stage, that even ISO 25600 brought not much help.

Autumn in the park

For testing my Hasselblad 903SWC with the new CFV50c digital back I went to the nearby park. Weather cloudy and wet, but great colours. All photos are hand held, at IS 400 and mostly f/4.5, which is open aparture for this Biogon lens.

Crop from about the middle of the above photo.
